Chiranjeevi Mediates Revenue Dispute Ahead of Ram Charan's 'Peddi' Release
Chiranjeevi Mediates 'Peddi' Revenue Dispute

Ram Charan's highly anticipated film 'Peddi' is set for a worldwide release on June 4, but it recently became the center of a major controversy in the Telugu film industry. The issue revolved around a dispute between producers and exhibitors over the theater business model, threatening to delay the film's release. However, Megastar Chiranjeevi, a towering figure in the industry, stepped in to mediate and resolve the conflict.

The Dispute

Exhibitors in Telangana demanded a shift from the traditional rental system to a percentage-sharing model. However, many producers opposed this change, arguing that the current market conditions, already fraught with challenges, were not suitable for such a significant overhaul. Several meetings were held, but no consensus was reached, leading to an escalating tussle that worried industry insiders about the potential impact on 'Peddi's release.

Chiranjeevi's Intervention

According to a report by Variety India, as the dispute reached a critical stage, Chiranjeevi decided to intervene. He invited key exhibitors to his residence for detailed discussions, listening to their concerns and working to broker peace between the two sides. Simultaneously, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and actor Pawan Kalyan met with leading producers in Rajahmundry, assuring them of his support during the crisis. These efforts gradually eased tensions.

Resolution and New Revenue Sharing Formula

After prolonged negotiations, producers, distributors, and exhibitors agreed to adopt a new percentage-based revenue system. The Telangana State Film Chamber of Commerce announced that Chiranjeevi would oversee sub-committee meetings to ensure the system's implementation before June 30. The new formula stipulates that in the first week, producers and distributors receive 60% of revenue while exhibitors keep 40%. In the second week, both sides share 50% each. By the third week, exhibitors take 60%, leaving 40% for producers and distributors.
