The legal dispute surrounding the Kannada film Boss has intensified just days before its scheduled release on June 19. Actor Darshan and his wife, Vijayalakshmi, have moved the Karnataka High Court seeking a stay on the film's release. The couple filed an appeal challenging a recent city civil court order that had cleared the way for the film's debut.
Background of the Controversy
Directed by Lava and starring Thanush Shivanna, Boss has been embroiled in controversy over allegations that it draws inspiration from the Renukaswamy murder case. Darshan, who is one of the accused in the case, has reportedly objected to the film's depiction of events and characters while the matter remains sub judice.
Court Proceedings
Earlier, the city civil court had vacated an interim injunction that temporarily restrained the film's release. Following that order, the makers confirmed that Boss would hit theatres across Karnataka on June 19. However, with the fresh appeal now before the Karnataka High Court, the film's release hangs in the balance once again.
This escalation marks the latest twist in a saga that has drawn significant attention from the Kannada film industry and the public. The High Court is expected to hear the matter shortly, and its decision will determine whether the film can proceed as planned.
