Dhurandhar 3 Buzz: Makers Push for Sequel Amid Director's Hesitation
The excitement for Dhurandhar: The Revenge, also known as Dhurandhar 2, is reaching fever pitch as its theatrical release approaches. In a surprising twist, reports have emerged online about the potential development of Dhurandhar 3, adding to the anticipation surrounding the franchise.
Makers Urge Aditya Dhar to Develop Dhurandhar 3
According to Variety India, the production studio, encouraged by the strong advance booking numbers for Dhurandhar: The Revenge, is actively exploring ways to expand the film universe further. The report indicates that the studio has formally requested Aditya Dhar, the director behind the Dhurandhar series, to begin work on a third installment.
The report elaborated, "It's a kind of subject that can be made into multiple parts. Given the phenomenon created by 'Dhurandhar' and the unprecedented buzz around its sequel, a third part cannot be ruled out."
It further revealed that Aditya Dhar already has a concept for the third chapter but has not committed to the project yet. In a strategic move, the studio has reportedly asked him to include a post-credit scene in Dhurandhar 2 to tease a possible third film, aiming to sustain audience excitement and capitalize on the franchise's momentum.
Is Aditya Dhar Excited for the Third Installment?
While the production house is eager to announce Dhurandhar 3, the report highlights a significant twist: Aditya Dhar is not keen on pursuing it. The filmmaker prefers to challenge himself with new projects rather than sticking to a franchise, finding repetitive trends "plainly boring."
The report stated, "'Dhurandhar' worked because it broke the usual template of the YRF Spy Universe and the popular South Indian action movies. Dhar may not want to trap himself within the very trend he challenged."
Despite this, the makers might proceed with an announcement to gauge interest, though it does not guarantee the film will actually be made, reflecting the tension between commercial demands and creative preferences.
Aditya Dhar's Future Projects and Deal
In related news, Aditya Dhar has signed a multi-project deal with the production studio, committing to produce several films for them. While he has not finalized his next directorial venture, he is reportedly interested in reuniting with actor Ranveer Singh for another large-scale mythological action adventure. Script development for this project is expected to begin by the end of this year.
Meanwhile, Dhurandhar: The Revenge is scheduled to hit cinemas on March 19, 2026, promising to deliver high-octane entertainment to fans eagerly awaiting its release.
