This statement comes directly in response to a public query from the war hero's brother, putting an end to the widespread rumours that had captivated social media.
Official Clarification Puts Rumours to Rest
The speculation reached a crescendo when Madhur Sharma, the brother of the decorated officer, took to social media platform X to tag director Aditya Dhar. He sought a direct confirmation on whether Ranveer Singh's character in the much-anticipated film was indeed a portrayal of his late brother. Aditya Dhar's response was prompt and unequivocal.
He stated, "Hi, sir – our film Dhurandhar is not based on the life of braveheart Major Mohit Sharma AC(P) SM. This is an official clarification." He further added a heartfelt assurance, "I assure you, if we do make a biopic on Mohit sir in the future, we will do it with full consent and in complete consultation with the family, and in a way that truly honors his sacrifice for the nation and the legacy it has left for all of us."

The trailer, featuring Ranveer Singh in a rugged and intense avatar, immediately went viral. For the uninitiated, Major Mohit Sharma was an Indian Army officer who infiltrated the Hizbul Mujahideen in the early 2000s under the alias Iftikhar Bhatt. He was posthumously awarded the Ashok Chakra, India's highest peacetime gallantry award, after he passed away in 2009.
