Esha Deol's Emotional Tribute to Dharmendra on His Birth Anniversary
Esha Deol's Heartfelt Note for Dharmendra

Bollywood actor Esha Deol penned a deeply emotional note on Monday, remembering her father and legendary film star Dharmendra on his birth anniversary. The veteran actor, who was just days away from turning 90, passed away on 24 November after a prolonged period of illness.

An Emotional Promise to a Legendary Father

Sharing nostalgic throwback pictures on Instagram, Esha Deol expressed her profound grief and unwavering bond with her father. In a lengthy caption, she addressed Dharmendra directly, writing about their eternal connection. She referred to their pact as "the strongest bond" that would endure "through all our lifetimes, all the realms and beyond."

Esha wrote that she has tenderly tucked her father deep within her heart to carry him with her for the rest of her life. She highlighted the irreplaceable gifts he gave her: magical memories, life lessons, teachings, guidance, warmth, unconditional love, dignity, and strength.

Remembering the Warmth and Wisdom

Opening up about her personal loss, Esha recalled specific, cherished moments. She painfully misses his "warm protective hugs that felt like the cosiest blanket," holding his "soft yet strong hands," and his voice calling her name, which led to endless conversations, laughter, and shayaris.

She also revealed the special nickname her father had for her, signing off as "Your Esha, your Bittu." Esha vowed to uphold Dharmendra's simple yet powerful motto: "always be humble, be happy, healthy & strong." She promised to continue his legacy with pride and respect and to spread his love to his millions of fans.

The Final Days and a Private Farewell

Dharmendra, aged 89, died last month following extended hospitalization. He was initially admitted to Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital and was later discharged to continue treatment at his home in Juhu, where he ultimately breathed his last.

His last rites were conducted privately, respecting his own wish for a simple farewell. This meant fans did not get a chance for a final public viewing (antim darshan). Filmmaker Hamad Al Reyami later shared that Dharmendra's second wife, Hema Malini, explained the decision. She stated that Dharmendra never wanted to be seen in a state of weakness or sickness, often hiding his pain even from those closest to him.

The iconic actor is survived by his two wives, Prakash Kaur and Hema Malini, and their six children: Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Ajeita Deol, Vijeta Deol, Esha Deol, and Ahana Deol.
