Farah Khan Returns to Acting with 'Toaster' Role

Filmmaker-choreographer Farah Khan returns to acting with the film 'Toaster', where she plays Nandini, a witty yet slightly intimidating orphanage owner. The role allows her to fully showcase her comic flair, adding charm and energy to this quirky small-town tale filled with unexpected twists.

Plot and Character Dynamics

In 'Toaster', Farah's character Nandini finds herself in a hilarious chase involving a toaster and Rajkummar Rao's character, Ramakant. What begins as a simple situation soon turns into a playful back-and-forth, with her character relentlessly pursuing him. Her performance injects humour and liveliness into the narrative, elevating the film's lighthearted tone.

Director Reveals How Farah Khan Came On-Board

Director Vivek Daschaudary revealed that Farah was always the first choice for the part. "The credit goes to Rajkummar and Patralekhaa completely. They have been friends all their lives and Farah ma'am has been very gracious enough to accept to be a small part of our film," he shared. He further added, "As soon as we saw this character, we knew that this was meant for her. She could play it bang-on! She just had to be herself!"

Farah Khan's Acting Journey

Farah has explored acting earlier as well, notably leading 'Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi' (2012) alongside Boman Irani. She has also made memorable appearances in films like 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' (1998), 'Kal Ho Naa Ho' (2003), and 'Om Shanti Om' (2007). However, 'Toaster' offers her a more substantial and character-driven role compared to her earlier cameos.

Farah Khan's Career Beyond Films and Viral Fame

Apart from her film projects, Farah Khan has gained fresh popularity through her 2025 vlogs, especially for her fun, unscripted camaraderie with her cook Dilip. Meanwhile, 'Toaster', also starring Sanya Malhotra, Archana Puran Singh, Abhishek Banerjee, Upendra Limaye, and Seema Pahwa, premiered on Netflix on April 15, following the chaos that unfolds when a frugal man's obsession with saving money spirals out of control.
