A source close to the minister confirmed this development to AFP on Tuesday, revealing that Nunez is "highly determined" to ban the scheduled June 11 concert at Marseille's Velodrome stadium.

The French government is reportedly exploring "all possibilities" to legally block the controversial performance. During his recent visit to Marseille, Minister Nunez discussed the potential concert ban with both the regional prefect and the city's mayor, indicating coordinated efforts at multiple levels of government.
This move follows similar actions taken by other European nations. Britain has already blocked the rapper, also known as Ye, from entering the country due to his inflammatory outbursts, prompting organizers of a festival where he was scheduled to headline in July to cancel the event entirely. Prime Minister Keir Starmer had previously described booking West as "deeply concerning."
Local Opposition to Controversial Performer
Marseille Mayor Benoit Payan, representing the city's left-wing leadership, has voiced strong opposition to West's planned visit. Last month, Payan declared he refused "to allow Marseille to be a showcase for those who promote hatred," reflecting broader concerns about the rapper's influence and messaging.
However, not all European nations have taken similar stances. Dutch Asylum and Migration Minister Bart van den Brink stated last week that there were currently no plans to bar the rapper from entering the Netherlands, highlighting differing approaches across the continent.

Kanye West, 48, has faced widespread criticism for numerous antisemitic remarks and expressions of admiration for Adolf Hitler.
