Actor Pardeep Singh Toor, currently portraying Mangal in the spin-off series Kyunki Rishton Ke Bhi Roop Badalte Hai (from Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2), has charted an unconventional path into the entertainment industry. Prior to his acting career, Toor was deeply immersed in agriculture and scientific research.
A Background in Agriculture and Science
Toor holds a B.Sc. in Agriculture and a postgraduate degree in Plant Breeding and Genetics from Punjab Agricultural University. Reflecting on his journey, he says, "To be honest, my journey has been a beautiful evolution. Growing up, I was always deeply connected to nature, plants, and animals, which naturally led me toward agricultural sciences."
The Unexpected Turn to Modelling
During his college years, friends encouraged him to try modelling due to his screen presence and social media photos. "What started as a few small gigs gradually turned into bigger opportunities," he recalls. Participating in Mr India Chandigarh and the Punjabi show Nedar were pivotal moments that boosted his confidence and introduced him to the entertainment world.
Choosing Passion Over Pay
A major turning point came when he secured a government job as a Field Officer. "I found myself at a crossroads. I had a secure career ahead of me, but my heart was pulling me towards acting. Eventually, I chose passion over pay and left the job to pursue acting full-time," he shares.
Building an Acting Career
His acting career expanded through Punjabi shows like Tedha Medha Sadda Vedha and Dildaariyan, before moving to national television with projects such as Tu Juliet Jatt Di, Kumkum Bhagya, and Jurm Aur Jazbaat. "One opportunity led to another, and that’s how I found my true calling in front of the camera," he concludes.
