Bollywood veteran Govinda was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai late Tuesday night after he experienced a sudden health scare at his residence. The 61-year-old actor reportedly felt disoriented and briefly lost consciousness, prompting an immediate medical response.
Govinda's Health Scare: A Timeline of Events
The incident unfolded on Tuesday when Govinda began feeling unwell. His friend and legal advisor, Lalit Bindal, revealed that the actor had been feeling weak and disoriented since the afternoon. After he fell unconscious, Govinda contacted his family doctor, who advised him to take a medicine. He took the medication around 8:30-9:00 PM and went to rest.
However, his condition took a turn for the worse around midnight. "Achanak se (suddenly), he again felt uneasy, disoriented, weak and felt suffocated around 12 in the night," Bindal told Hindustan Times. Govinda then called Bindal, who rushed to his home and, following the doctor's advice, took him to CritiCare hospital in suburban Juhu. He was admitted to the emergency ward around 1 AM.
Family Rushes to His Side and Current Condition
At the time of the incident, Govinda's immediate family was out of town. His wife, Sunita Ahuja, was attending a wedding outside Mumbai, while his daughter, Tina Ahuja, was in Chandigarh for work. Upon hearing the news, both immediately made arrangements to return.
Sunita Ahuja rushed back to Mumbai, arriving late on Tuesday night and heading straight to the hospital. Tina Ahuja was also on her way and was expected to be with her father by Wednesday evening. Initially, Govinda's manager, Sashi Shinde, had stated that Tina was with him, but this was later clarified by Bindal.
After a night in the emergency ward, Govinda has been shifted to a room. He is now stable and has shared a voice message with ANI, stating, "Thank you so much… I am fine." He is currently under constant observation at the hospital while doctors await the results of several tests that have been conducted. There is no word on his discharge yet, as the medical team will decide the further course of action based on the reports.
Past Incidents and Context
This is not the first time Govinda has been rushed to the CritiCare hospital. In October last year, the actor was admitted after his licensed revolver allegedly misfired, causing a bullet wound to his knee. He was discharged after three days of treatment.
Interestingly, Govinda's hospitalization came just hours after he visited the ailing veteran actor Dharmendra at Breach Candy hospital, showing his commitment to his colleagues even before his own health episode.
