Govinda Speaks Out on Fading Stardom and Industry Reputation
While Govinda is frequently hailed as an actor with unparalleled talent, his fans have expressed growing concern over his diminishing presence in Bollywood. In numerous recent interviews, Govinda's wife, Sunita Ahuja, has also voiced her desire for him to take on more film projects, emphasizing that there has never been a star quite like him.
Addressing Controversies and Divorce Rumors
In recent times, the actor found himself embroiled in controversy amid allegations of an extra-marital affair and widespread speculation about a potential divorce from Sunita. Responding to these rumors in a recent interview, Govinda offered a philosophical perspective on the cyclical nature of fame and reputation in the film industry.
He stated that every actor inevitably faces a downturn in their career, reflecting on how even the most iconic figures have navigated similar challenging phases. Drawing direct comparisons with legendary actors, he shared insights during a conversation with Siddharth Kannan.
Govinda's Comparison to Bollywood Icons"Look, in this film industry, everyone at some point is forced out and given a bad reputation," Govinda explained. "You see legendary Amitabh Bachchan, he was the perfect actor in the industry, right? But he was absent for 14–15 years. Why? Did he not show up on time for shoots? Look at Rajesh Khanna. In the middle of his career, there was an entire group of people saying, 'No, it’s not good, this is wrong, that is wrong, he looks strange.' Again, why? It’s a phase you have to go through. How you come out of it, that’s the game."
Reflections on Aamir Khan's Reputation Shift
Govinda also pointed to Aamir Khan as another prime example of how public perception can evolve over time. He remarked, "Aamir Khan ki badnaami kitni hoti thi beech mein, baad mein jab hit dene laga toh sab ke liye perfectionist hogaya (Aamir Khan had a bad reputation for so long. Later, when he started giving hits, everyone called him a perfectionist)."
Responding to Punctuality and Attitude Criticisms
When the discussion turned to persistent rumors about his punctuality and attitude negatively impacting his standing in Bollywood, Govinda responded with sharp candor. "Whose name is spotless in this film industry? Are you crazy? Whose name is perfect here?" he questioned.
He elaborated further, stating, "The ones with an exceptionally good name, understand, they are the most dangerous people. Those whom the public loves, understand, people fear them. Excuse me, whose name is truly good?" Concluding on a resigned note, Govinda added, "It’s certain that your name will get tarnished."
This interview sheds light on Govinda's perspective regarding the inevitable ebbs and flows of a Bollywood career, highlighting how even the biggest stars face periods of criticism and decline before potentially rebounding.
