Harrison Ford: 'Shrinking' Could Be Sufficient Career End

Harrison Ford Contemplates 'Shrinking' as a Perfect Career Conclusion

In a recent revelation, Hollywood icon Harrison Ford has expressed contentment with the trajectory of his illustrious career, hinting that the Apple TV series Shrinking might serve as a fitting and sufficient finale to his decades-long journey in the entertainment industry. The 83-year-old actor, known for legendary roles in franchises like Star Wars and Indiana Jones, shared these thoughts during a panel at Apple TV's inaugural press day, as reported by Female First UK.

A Special Project That Nurtures and Inspires

Ford, who stars alongside notable actors such as Christa Miller, Jessica Williams, Michael Urie, Jason Segel, and Michael J. Fox in the hit series, described Shrinking as a very special project that has deeply impacted him. He admitted to wondering what could possibly follow such a fulfilling experience, stating, "Where do you go from here? The kind of work that we're able to do is remarkable given the tools we have to work with, and the notion that lies behind this series. And if it was all over here, that would be sufficient."

Reflecting on his long career, Ford emphasized how this role has been different yet incredibly rewarding. He added, "This has been a different kind of job for me, and I've been doing this for a long time. This is very special and it really nurtures me and makes me feel like what we're doing has value and importance. I look for that in my life and I'm happy to have found it here."

Navigating Challenges with Michael J. Fox

During the panel, Ford also opened up about his initial nervousness in working with Michael J. Fox on the show. His character, Dr. Paul Roades, shares the same condition as Fox—Parkinson's disease—which added a layer of responsibility to his portrayal. Ford confessed, "It was a bit daunting when I thought about it, because I am representing a character that has Parkinson's, and Michael, of course, has the real thing. I've always felt a real sense of responsibility for getting that part of my story right."

However, the experience turned out to be profoundly positive. Ford praised Fox, saying, "But Michael is an extraordinary, generous and lovely fellow, who I did not know at all and had a chance to, just working on this show. It was an extraordinary experience to work with him. He is such a powerful presence. Such grace and courage and indomitability, and some of that, I hope, will help me colour my portrayal of a character with Parkinson's."

This collaboration highlights the show's depth and the meaningful connections forged on set, contributing to Ford's view of Shrinking as a potential career capstone.
