Hrithik Roshan addresses War 2 box office failure with humour in Dubai
Hrithik Roshan on War 2 box office bomb: 'Never take stardom for granted'

Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan has finally broken his silence about the massive box office failure of his highly anticipated film War 2, addressing the setback with his characteristic grace and humour during a recent public appearance in Dubai.

Dubai Event Revelation

At a launch event held at the prestigious Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, Roshan responded to being introduced as a "global icon" and "superstar" with surprising candour. The actor, known for his impeccable comic timing, quipped to the host and audience, "That's very kind of you... You know, my film just bombed at the box office, so it feels very good to get all the love. Thank you."

This marked the first time the actor has publicly acknowledged the commercial disappointment of War 2, which was produced by Yash Raj Films and also starred Telugu superstar Jr NTR.

The Staggering Financial Loss

The scale of the failure becomes clear when examining the numbers. According to trade tracker Sacnilk, War 2 was made on a colossal budget of Rs 400 crore but managed to earn only Rs 236.55 crore in India. This significant financial setback affected not only the production house but also the market value of its lead stars.

The film's performance stood in stark contrast to its predecessor, which had been a massive commercial success, making the sequel's failure particularly notable in industry circles.

Reflections on Stardom and Gratitude

During the same Dubai event, Roshan took a more serious tone while reflecting on his 25-year journey in the Indian film industry. The actor expressed profound gratitude for the continued support from his fans and the unique position he holds in the entertainment world.

"It's the connection. To have the privilege to touch people's lives, to make them feel something, whether it's joy or hope or strength, escape, inspiration," Roshan shared. "Just to be able to walk into a room and make someone feel something, I think that is a superpower that I will never take for granted. And I'm still surprised by it, every time. I'm still very humbled by it, and I cherish it, and I'm so, so thankful for it."

He emphasized that despite his long and successful career, he remains deeply moved by the affection he receives from people he has never met, acknowledging this connection as something truly special.

Previous Admissions and Future Projects

This isn't the first indication that Roshan had concerns about the project. Last month, the actor took to Instagram to share his thoughts about stepping into the character of Kabir, revealing an internal conflict during the filming process.

In his social media post, Roshan wrote about how everything seemed "so perfect" and like a "sure shot" during production, but he admitted to ignoring a voice that warned him "This is too easy... I know this too well." He confessed to another internal voice that suggested he deserved an easier project after his previous intense roles.

Looking ahead, Roshan is preparing to make his directorial debut with Krrish 4, which is scheduled to begin production next year. Early reports suggest the film will explore the concept of time travel, potentially revitalizing the popular superhero franchise that has been a significant part of his career.
