Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi recently showcased a radiant glow, adorned in pristine white ethnic attire, as she celebrated Eid with an exclusive photoshoot. For Huma, this festival transcends mere tradition; it embodies a profound feeling, a cherished ritual of togetherness, and a gentle reminder of life's true priorities.
Chaotic College Memories and the Essence of Togetherness
While this year's festivities are centered at home, Huma fondly recalls a particularly chaotic yet joy-filled Eid from her college days. "I arrived home late, only to find 17 of my girlfriends had already gathered. The food had turned cold, but nobody minded. We simply sat together, enjoying thanda khana – biryani and korma – as my mother kept scolding us," she recounts with a smile.
Eid as a Time for Gratitude and Community Sharing
Discussing the significance of Eid, Huma emphasizes its core values. "It's about sharing with friends, family, your community, and those less fortunate. Ramzan is a month of meaningful actions, from iftar gatherings to opening our tables to others. This is integral to our family identity," she explains. Huma notes that many friends don't even require invitations; they instinctively visit during Eid, drawn by the familial warmth and her mother's home-cooked meals.
For Huma, Ramzan is less about extravagant displays and more about mindful reflection. "We often neglect to pause and genuinely appreciate our daily blessings," she observes, highlighting the festival's introspective aspect.
Childhood Excitement: Fashion, Eidi, and Sibling Rivalry
Growing up, Eid fashion was a serious affair for Huma. "Deciding between a salwar kameez or lehenga sparked proper discussions as a child," she laughs. The real highlight, however, was Eidi. "All us cousins would line up after namaz to collect money from elders, then sneak back for more. The day ended with counting, comparing, and, of course, chocolates," she shares.
Her Eid memories are incomplete without mentioning her actor-brother, Saqib Saleem. "I remember stealing his money! We'd often fight over chocolates because he'd hoard his while I devoured mine," Huma reveals. On cooking, she admits candidly, "I haven't mastered biryani-making, but I certainly know where to find and appreciate a good one. That's an art in itself," she says with a grin.
