Indrans Shares Emotional Appeal for His New Film 'Aashaan'
Veteran Malayalam actor Indrans has shared a heartfelt and sincere video message regarding his latest film 'Aashaan', which hit theaters on February 5. In the social media video, the actor expressed his gratitude for the positive response the film has received while making a passionate appeal for greater audience support.
A Milestone Role After Six Hundred Films
"Aashaan released in theaters yesterday. I have acted in more than six hundred movies, but this is the first time I am the hero of a film with so much publicity," Indrans revealed in his video message. The actor emphasized that despite his extensive filmography spanning decades, this particular project represents a significant personal milestone.
Indrans extended his appreciation to supporters, stating, "Thank you for the support so far. I hope you will continue your support. If everything is okay, please give a thumbs up. From your own Aashaan."
Why the Actor Cannot Meet Fans Personally
The veteran performer explained his current unavailability for in-person theater visits, noting, "I am now on the set of Adoor sir's film 'Padayatra'. That is why I cannot come to the theaters and meet you directly." Despite his absence from promotional events, Indrans stressed the importance of this film in his career, acknowledging that the attention he's receiving as a lead actor is unprecedented for him.
A Project Featuring Numerous Newcomers
Indrans highlighted that 'Aashaan' isn't just about his performance but serves as a platform for fresh talent. "Not just me, more than a hundred newcomers have acted in this movie," he shared, underscoring the collaborative nature of the production.
A Personal Request to Avoid Past Disappointments
At one poignant moment in the video, Indrans referenced his earlier film 'Guppy', expressing his desire that 'Aashaan' not face similar challenges. "Do not make 'Aashaan' end up like 'Guppy'. That is why I made a video like this for the first time," he explained.
The actor further emphasized the film's significance beyond his own career, stating, "Aashaan is the hope and dream of many youngsters." He concluded his message with a direct appeal for theater attendance to support the movie.
Industry Response and Critical Reception
The film has already garnered attention from prominent industry figures. Superstar Mammootty offered his support during the trailer launch, praising the movie's quality and specifically commending Indrans' performance in 'Kuttante Shinigami'.
According to an ETimes review, 'Aashaan' presents "a meta drama that unfolds within the cluttered, chaotic world of filmmaking." The review describes the narrative as exploring "the longing to belong to cinema and the fragile hopes that sustain those waiting on its margins."
The critique notes the film is "set largely inside an apartment complex that doubles as a film location," with a narrative that "mirrors the disorder of the industry itself, packed with ambition, humour, frustration and quiet heartbreak." While acknowledging the film can be "messy and overextended at times," the review concludes it "ultimately works as a sincere, if uneven, reflection on what it means to keep believing in cinema even when cinema does not always believe back."
