In a major Hollywood development, Paramount Pictures has officially enlisted celebrated director James Wan to helm a high-profile reimagining of the hit South Korean crime thriller "The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil." The original film, which premiered to critical acclaim at the Cannes Film Festival in 2019, is now set for a Hollywood adaptation with significant creative talent attached.
Original Star and Oscar-Winning Writer Join the Project
According to industry reports from Variety, the project will see the return of popular South Korean actor Don Lee, who starred in the original film. Lee, known for his roles in blockbusters like "Train to Busan," "Unstoppable," "The Bad Guys: Reign of Chaos," and the Marvel Cinematic Universe's "Eternals," is attached to the remake. Additionally, Oscar-winning screenwriter Brian Helgeland, acclaimed for his work on "Mystic River" and "L.A. Confidential," penned the original draft and will serve as an executive producer.
