Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the new terminal building at Jodhpur Airport, along with several other development projects in Rajasthan. Speaking at the event, PM Modi asserted that "New India never backs down" and highlighted the government's commitment to infrastructure development.
New Terminal at Jodhpur Airport
The newly built terminal at Jodhpur Airport is a state-of-the-art facility designed to handle increased passenger traffic. According to the Prime Minister's Office, the terminal has a capacity of 1,400 passengers during peak hours, significantly boosting the region's air connectivity. The project was executed at a cost of over ₹470 crore.
PM Modi said, "This new terminal is a symbol of the new India that is moving forward with new energy and new resolve. We are not just building infrastructure; we are building the foundation of a developed India."
Other Development Projects
In addition to the airport terminal, PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for multiple projects worth over ₹5,600 crore. These include road widening, water supply schemes, and healthcare facilities across Rajasthan. The projects are expected to create employment opportunities and improve the quality of life for local residents.
The Prime Minister also launched the "Mukhyamantri Jal Swavlamban Abhiyan" to address water scarcity in the region. Under this initiative, over 1,000 water conservation structures will be built in drought-prone areas of Rajasthan.
New India's Resolve
PM Modi emphasized that the country is now more confident and determined than ever. "India is no longer a nation that hesitates or backs down. We are taking bold decisions and implementing them with full force," he said. He cited the government's efforts in improving ease of living and providing basic amenities to all citizens.
The Prime Minister also praised the people of Rajasthan for their support and contribution to the nation's progress. "Rajasthan is moving ahead rapidly, and the central government is committed to providing all possible assistance for its development," he added.
Impact on Regional Development
The new airport terminal is expected to boost tourism and trade in the region. Jodhpur, a major tourist destination, will benefit from enhanced connectivity. The other projects, including road infrastructure and water conservation, aim to address long-standing issues in the state.
According to officials, the road projects will improve connectivity between rural and urban areas, while the water schemes will provide relief to areas facing water shortages. The healthcare facilities will strengthen the primary health infrastructure in the state.
