Jaya Bachchan Reveals Amitabh's Political Frustration, Contrasts Her Own Approach
Jaya Bachchan on Amitabh's Frustrating Political Stint

Veteran actress and politician Jaya Bachchan has offered a rare glimpse into her husband Amitabh Bachchan's short-lived political career, suggesting the megastar found the experience deeply frustrating. In a candid conversation, she contrasted his parliamentary tenure with her own more outspoken approach to politics.

"He Must Have Been Very Frustrated": Jaya on Big B's Politics

During an interview with journalist Barkha Dutt for Mojo Story, Jaya Bachchan delved into the Bachchan family's political journeys. She revealed that Amitabh Bachchan "must have been very frustrated" during his time as a Member of Parliament. Elaborating on his discomfort, she noted that while her husband holds strong opinions, he did not feel the political forum was the right place to express them freely.

"I Don't Care": Jaya's Contrasting Political Persona

Jaya Bachchan positioned her own political style in direct opposition to her husband's reserved nature. She stated plainly, "I don't care" about the consequences of speaking her mind, attributing her fearless attitude to her upbringing. "I am a daughter of a journalist; don’t forget that," she reminded the interviewer, highlighting how her background shaped her willingness to voice opinions.

Despite her family's initial apprehension about her political entry—driven by fear she might "blurt out anything"—she proceeded. Interestingly, she fully supported Amitabh's earlier foray into politics. She campaigned door-to-door for him, a novel strategy at the time, driven by the belief that since the country made him a superstar, he owed it to the nation.

Bachchans On the Work Front

On the professional front, Jaya Bachchan was last seen in Karan Johar's hit film 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani', starring alongside Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Shabana Azmi, and Dharmendra. Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan is set to reprise his role as the immortal Ashwatthama in Nag Ashwin's upcoming project, 'Kalki 2'.

The interview sheds light on the starkly different ways India's most iconic celebrity couple has navigated the complex world of politics, with one choosing restraint and the other embracing candid expression.
