Kalpana Iyer Defends Aamir Khan's Perfectionist Reputation, Shares Fond Memories
Veteran actor and dancer Kalpana Iyer, who recently gained attention for recreating her iconic track "Rambha Ho," has opened up about her experience working with Bollywood's celebrated "Mr. Perfectionist," Aamir Khan. In a candid conversation, Iyer looked back at their collaboration in the 1996 blockbuster Raja Hindustani, offering high praise for Khan's unwavering dedication and disciplined approach to filmmaking.
"He Is Very Sincere and Disciplined" – Kalpana Iyer's Perspective
Speaking exclusively to Simply Pankaj, Kalpana Iyer shared her positive recollections of working alongside Aamir Khan. "I have very fond memories of working with Aamir. When people say he is very fussy, I don't think so. He is very sincere, disciplined, and he likes certain things done a certain way. I don't see why not," Iyer stated emphatically.
She further elaborated on Khan's collaborative spirit, noting, "If he wants to deliver a performance, remain true to his role, and carry his co-artists along with him, it's not a crime." This defense comes amid longstanding industry chatter about Khan's meticulous and sometimes demanding nature on set.
Perfectionism Evident from Early Career
Kalpana Iyer highlighted that Aamir Khan's commitment to perfection was not a newfound trait but has been consistent throughout his career. "For me, he has always been a perfectionist. He was the same during Tum Mere Ho and remained the same in Raja Hindustani. His perfection only intensified by then," she recalled.
Describing Khan's all-consuming passion for cinema, Iyer added, "He breathes, eats, drinks, and sleeps cinema. For him, it's not just about himself—it's about everyone around him. I respect that. It may seem unfair or harsh at times, but the end result benefits everyone."
On-Set Suggestions and Collaborative Growth
Reflecting on the dynamic during filming, Kalpana Iyer admitted that Khan's involvement and suggestions could feel overwhelming in the heat of the moment. "At that moment, it might bother you because you're performing and someone is suggesting changes, but it was always for the betterment," she shared.
She emphasized Khan's holistic approach to his craft, stating, "I think he is a wonderful actor, and that reflects in every aspect of his life. He has done everything with sincerity. I only want to remember the good things. There is no time for negativity."
