South Indian actress Keerthy Suresh has voiced serious concerns about the alarming rise of AI-generated fake images, particularly targeting women in the entertainment industry. The revelation came during promotional activities for her upcoming film Revolver Rita in late November 2025.
The Shocking Reality of AI Manipulation
During an appearance on Sudhir Srinivasan's podcast, Keerthy Suresh shared her personal experience with fabricated AI images that left her genuinely stunned. "You see a picture of yourself, but it's a completely wrong image. For a moment, you start believing it's really you," the actress confessed.
She described the psychological impact of encountering these hyper-realistic fake images: "When it happened to me, I thought—this is not me… I never posed like this, did I? A million thoughts ran through my head." The actress emphasized that while photo manipulation has existed for years, AI technology has elevated the threat to unprecedented levels.
Growing Industry Concern About Deepfakes
The issue has gained significant attention within the film industry. Keerthy revealed that prominent filmmaker Atlee reached out to her after a press meet to discuss the growing concern around AI deepfakes. This highlights how the problem is becoming a topic of serious conversation among industry professionals.
At a promotional event last week, Keerthy elaborated on the dual nature of AI technology: "AI has become a huge issue. It's a boon and a bane. Humans invented technology, but we are losing control." She expressed particular concern about social media platforms where these fake images circulate widely.
Personal Experiences with Digital Alteration
The actress shared specific instances where her images were digitally manipulated. "On social media, I get stunned seeing my picture in a suggestive outfit, and I wonder if I ever wore it, because it looks so real," she disclosed.
In one particularly disturbing incident, even her attire from a movie puja ceremony was digitally altered inappropriately. "Recently, the outfit I wore for a puja was altered in a bad way. For a second I wondered… and then I realised I hadn't posed like that. It is definitely irritating and hurting," Keerthy expressed.
The actress emphasized that female actors face disproportionate targeting through such technologies. Keerthy Suresh's upcoming film Revolver Rita is scheduled for theatrical release on November 28. The film features an ensemble cast including Radhika Sarathkumar, Sunil, Redin Kingsley, and several other prominent actors.
