Kylie Jenner Takes Initiative for Big-Screen Acting Debut in Charli XCX's Satirical Film
In a surprising career move, entrepreneur and reality television icon Kylie Jenner has officially made her feature film acting debut. The 28-year-old star appears in the new satirical movie 'The Moment', directed by Aidan Zamiri and inspired by the cultural phenomenon surrounding Charli XCX's 2024 album Brat. According to an exclusive report from People magazine, Jenner personally pitched herself for the role during a casual conversation, demonstrating her proactive approach to entering the cinematic world.
A Chance Encounter Leads to Casting Breakthrough
The opportunity arose unexpectedly during a shared flight. Jenner recounted the pivotal moment in an Instagram video interview with both Charli XCX, 33, and director Aidan Zamiri. "We were actually on a flight together, and you were telling me about this project," Jenner explained. "And I believe in you, Zamiri, so much, and you, Charli, so much, and I presented the idea, I think." Charli XCX quickly clarified Jenner's enthusiastic pitch, interjecting, "You were like, 'Put me in the film!'" Jenner confirmed this account, admitting, "That's basically what I said."
Director Aidan Zamiri recalled that Jenner expressed a genuine desire to step outside her established comfort zone. Jenner noted she had become familiar with Zamiri's distinctive visual style through his acclaimed music videos for Charli XCX and other major artists like Billie Eilish and PinkPantheress. Her confidence in his creative vision solidified her interest. "I was like, 'Well, if you want me, I'll be there,'" Jenner said of the conversation that ultimately secured her casting.
Overcoming Nerves and Embracing Satire
Despite her extensive experience in front of cameras for reality television and social media, Jenner confessed to significant pre-filming anxiety. "I was very nervous up until we were actually doing it. I think I'm comfortable in front of cameras, less comfortable doing something I've never done before in front of people," she revealed. However, her apprehension quickly dissipated. "I think after the first take, I was like, 'Okay. I feel good about this.'"
In the film, Jenner plays a fictionalized, satirical version of herself. She humorously addressed her portrayal after Zamiri praised her willingness to playfully engage with her public persona. "I'm not really a bitch," Jenner joked, clarifying the character's nature. To prepare for her brief but significant three-minute role, Jenner considered professional coaching but ultimately relied on practicing with her inner circle. "I'm playing myself, and I'm in the movie for like three minutes. Just practising with people that I trust and my friends and my family, that gave me confidence," she stated.
Critical Acclaim and Collaborative Spirit
Charli XCX herself has publicly praised Jenner's performance. During a Q&A session at the Alamo Drafthouse in Brooklyn, New York, on February 3, the musician shared her positive experience. "I really enjoyed shooting the Kylie scene," Charli said, emphasizing that filming with Jenner on the final day of production felt particularly special. "It really was so easy and effortless, and she really, like, played with it, did her thing."
'The Moment' features an ensemble cast including notable actors Kate Berlant, Rosanna Arquette, and Alexander Skarsgård. The film is currently showing in theatres, offering audiences a satirical look at the music industry and celebrity culture. Jenner's proactive pitch and successful debut mark a notable expansion of her influence from beauty and reality television into the realm of narrative cinema, showcasing her evolving career ambitions and collaborative spirit within the entertainment industry.
