In the documentary, Khloe Kardashian recalled a critical moment during Odom's hospitalization, claiming that his father, Joe Odom, urged medical professionals to withdraw life support. "Joe just said, 'Don't put him on life support, turn those machines off,'" Kardashian stated. She described walking into what felt like a movie scene, responding to Joe by saying, "Sorry, Joe. I'm still his wife. What do you need?"
Kardashian further alleged that Joe Odom requested "a pair of Nikes and $100 and a hotel room for the night" before leaving and never returning to the hospital. These claims have now become a point of significant contention between the former couple.

"I was knocked out and asleep at that time, but if you know Joe Odom, I don't think that's something that would ever come out of his mouth," Odom explained. "He was my biggest fan. I don't know where that got caught, translated. I just can't see him ever, ever doing that."
