Lara Dutta Opens Up About Stressful Days in Dubai Amid Middle East Conflict

Bollywood actress Lara Dutta, currently residing in Dubai with her daughter and former tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi, has candidly shared her feelings of nervousness and stress due to the escalating conflict in the Middle East. She expressed a strong desire to return to Mumbai soon, highlighting the challenges of securing flight tickets during this tense period.

Actress Recalls Tense Atmosphere During Brand Commitment Trip

Lara Dutta traveled to Dubai, a city she has called home for the past three years, for a brand commitment when the Israel-Iran war intensified. In a heartfelt video message, she described hearing explosions and witnessing missiles being intercepted while inside a studio. "I can’t lie, it’s been stressful days. We are nervous and it’s been scary. Lots of fighter jets flying overhead, lots of loud booms," she said. Despite living in a villa in a safe neighborhood, she noted that windows shake and doors rattle, creating an unnerving environment, though she emphasized never feeling unsafe.

Praise for UAE Government and Essential Workers

Amid the turmoil, Lara Dutta praised the United Arab Emirates authorities for their incredible efforts in protecting residents. She stated, "We feel like we count, we matter. The UAE government, as somebody living in this city, is making sure they do everything in their power to protect us and keep us safe." She also expressed admiration for essential workers, from gardeners to delivery riders, calling them everyday heroes who keep the country running despite uncertainty.

Efforts to Return to Mumbai and Emotional Reflections

Lara revealed that she and her family are actively exploring flight options to India, but tickets have been difficult to secure. "We are trying to get back to Mumbai, more so because the kids are a lot more nervous. We are as well, even as grown-ups. We are trying to get out," she said emotionally. Drawing parallels to past experiences, she recalled being in India during the India-Pakistan war and praised how well the country protected civilians. She added, "No civilian deserves to live in fear or be caught up in a war that is destabilising an entire region," concluding with hope for common sense to prevail.

Reactions from Bollywood Fraternity

Several friends from the film industry reacted to her post. Richa Chadha commented, "I’m glad you’re safe, Lara, and credit where credit is due to the UAE govt." Sudhanshu Pandey wrote, "Lara my dearest, you hang in there, all will be well. Stay together stay strong, this will be over soon." Earlier, other celebrities like Esha Gupta and Sonal Chauhan were also stranded in the UAE but have since safely returned to India.
