Madgaon Express 2 Confirmed by Divyenndu, Script Underway

In conversation with Variety India, Divyenndu left no room for doubt about the sequel's status. He said, "Yes, it's on. It's definitely on. Kunal [Kemmu] is working on the script. We are all very, very excited."

The announcement comes on the back of the original film's massive and growing fan following since its release in March 2024. Backed by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's production house, 'Madgaon Express' starred Divyenndu, Pratik Gandhi, and Avinash Tiwary as three childhood friends whose Goa trip spirals into chaotic, laugh-out-loud misadventures.

Divyenndu credited the overwhelming audience response as the key factor behind the sequel push. In his words, "The kind of response we got for Madgaon was so... I mean, it's got a cultish sort of a following. I'm not gonna use the word 'cult', because it's (the film) too new. It still has to grow and age well. But yeah, people are really excited about that film."

What could 'Madgaon Express 2' be about?

The first film's epilogue had already quietly set the stage for a follow-up. Divyenndu's character Dodo wins a lottery and floats the idea of a Las Vegas trip to his friends, while Pratik Gandhi's Pinku is shown gearing up for his wedding. This has sparked widespread speculation that the sequel could follow a bachelor-party format, drawing comparisons to 'The Hangover' franchise, with a shift in setting from Goa to Las Vegas promising a bigger and wilder adventure.

While the official storyline remains under wraps, the Las Vegas backdrop alone signals a significant scale-up for the franchise.

What's next for Divyenndu?

Beyond the sequel buzz, Divyenndu has a packed schedule ahead. He is set to appear in 'Mirzapur: The Movie', slated for a theatrical release on September 6, 2026, and will also star in the upcoming Netflix series 'Glory', arriving on May 1, 2026.
