In an exciting development for Bollywood fans, director Suresh Triveni has revealed that legendary actress Madhuri Dixit-Nene immediately agreed to star in his upcoming film 'Maa Behen' after hearing just the first narration. Triveni, who was eager to explore the actor's remarkable comic timing, shared that the team had decided Madhuri would be their first choice for the film from the very beginning.

Suresh Triveni Turns to Lighter Storytelling After 'Jalsa'

Following his intense 2022 film 'Jalsa', filmmaker Suresh Triveni felt a strong urge to take a creative break from heavy narratives and dive into something more light-hearted and entertaining. The new project, 'Maa Behen', was revealed through a Netflix teaser in February and instantly captured audience attention thanks to its powerhouse casting duo of Madhuri Dixit-Nene and rising star Triptii Dimri.

Reflecting on the ambitious casting process, Triveni shared, "The casting was obviously ambitious," as he discussed the dark comedy that also brings talented actors Ravi Kishan and Dharna Durga into the ensemble. "We wanted to have three terrific women, and we were clear from day one that we would approach Madhuri ma'am for it. She readily agreed in the first narration. So did Triptii, Dharna, and Ravi Kishan. I was fortunate," he elaborated.

Madhuri Dixit Embraces Comic Role in 'Maa Behen'

In 'Maa Behen', Madhuri Dixit-Nene portrays a lively, carefree mother whose vibrant personality frequently clashes with her sensible and restrained daughter, brought to life by Triptii Dimri. Director Suresh Triveni, a longtime admirer of Madhuri's effortless wit and charm, specifically wanted to tap into her comic potential in a fresh and innovative way.

"As a viewer, I was dying to see how beautiful Madhuri ma'am is with comedy," Triveni confessed. "We wanted to see her in that comic avatar, and we chased it with determination and passion."

Suresh Triveni Praises Madhuri Dixit's Professional Dedication

Having previously directed 'Subedaar' with Anil Kapoor and now 'Maa Behen' featuring Madhuri Dixit, Suresh Triveni considers himself exceptionally fortunate to have collaborated with two of the most iconic stars from the 1990s Bollywood era. He shared insightful observations about their enduring professionalism and commitment to their craft.

"Why we call them the OGs is that they are not done yet. They are still learning," Triveni explained. "For example, we did at least 14 workshop sessions with the three leads together for Maa Behen. Madhuri ma'am showed up consistently. She didn't say, 'Since I have done so much work, I don't need it.' She diligently learnt the required dialect. These stars aren't complacent at all, and their dedication continues to inspire everyone on set."

The film represents a significant creative departure for Triveni while showcasing Madhuri Dixit-Nene in a comedic role that promises to highlight her versatile acting skills in new ways. With its strong ensemble cast and unique mother-daughter dynamic, 'Maa Behen' is poised to become one of the most anticipated releases on Netflix's entertainment roster.
