Veteran Malayalam Actor-Director E A Rajendran Passes Away at 71 in Kollam
The Malayalam film industry mourns the loss of esteemed actor and director E A Rajendran, who passed away on Thursday at his residence in Pattathanam, Kollam. He was 71 years old. Rajendran had been undergoing medical treatment for various health issues for several months prior to his demise.
Early Life and Theatre Career
Born in Thrithallur, Thrissur, E A Rajendran developed a passion for performing arts during his school days, actively participating in theatre productions. He later transitioned into a professional theatre artist, honing his craft on stage before entering the film industry.
Rajendran's personal life intertwined with his artistic journey when he married Sandhya, the daughter of celebrated theatre director O Madhavan. This connection further deepened his involvement in theatre, as he directed numerous plays, many of which were staged for Kalidasa Kalakendran, an institution founded by his father-in-law.
Distinguished Film and Television Career
An alumnus of the prestigious National School of Drama (NSD) and the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Rajendran embarked on his cinematic career in the early 1980s. Over the decades, he appeared in approximately 60 Malayalam films, leaving an indelible mark with his versatile performances.

He was also the brother-in-law of popular actor Mukesh, further cementing his ties to the Malayalam film fraternity.
