Mammootty's Surprising Revelation About 'Lokah' Cameo
In a delightful twist that has captured the attention of film enthusiasts, Malayalam cinema legend Mammootty has revealed that his much-talked-about cameo appearance in the superhit sci-fi film 'Lokah: Chapter 1' was actually the result of being tricked by the production team. The film, starring Dulquer Salmaan and Kalyani Priyadarshan, features a memorable cameo by Mammootty as the character Moothon, but the veteran actor now says even the hand shown in the movie isn't actually his.
The 'Trick' That Led to the Cameo
During a recent interview with THR India, Mammootty shared the lighthearted story behind his unexpected appearance in the film. "They didn't tell me that I'm there," the superstar revealed with amusement. "Initially, he (Dulquer) did not come. His manager, his friend, he asked me to give a voice. Venda, no, that is the only thing I did."
The actor explained that he was initially approached only for a voice-over contribution, with no mention of any on-screen appearance. "The hand used in the film is not mine," Mammootty clarified, adding to the surprising revelation. "When the film came only, they said it's you and your hand. Now it has become a responsibility of me to act. Actually, they cheated me and mediated. That's the story behind it."
Mammootty laughed while narrating how what was supposed to be a simple voice recording turned into a much larger role than he had anticipated, with the production team creatively expanding his contribution without his full knowledge.
Playful Banter About a Potential Sequel
The interview took an even more humorous turn when the conversation shifted to the possibility of a sequel. When asked about Dulquer Salmaan's previous comment that Mammootty would need convincing for any future installments, the veteran actor responded with characteristic wit.
"I told them not only I'm if at all convinced, I have to convince you about my fees," Mammootty quipped. "That they have to get convinced."
Later in the conversation, the actor playfully asked the interviewer if they had ever imagined him playing a vampire character. After receiving a positive response, he joked that it was 'suspense' and added 'Inshallah', leaving the door open for potential future roles in unexpected genres.
