Former WWE Star Marc Mero Reveals Painful Discovery of Sable's Affair with Brock Lesnar
In a deeply personal and emotional revelation, former WWE superstar Marc Mero has opened up about the devastating moment he discovered his then-wife's infidelity during their nearly decade-long marriage. The 65-year-old wrestling icon shared his painful story during an appearance on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, detailing how he uncovered that Sable was involved with fellow wrestling star Brock Lesnar.
A Marriage Unraveling in the Early 2000s
Marc Mero and Sable, whose real name is Rena Greek, were married for approximately ten years during which time Mero adopted Sable's daughter Mariah from her previous marriage to Wayne Richardson. The relationship began to deteriorate significantly in the early 2000s, particularly when Sable returned to WWE in 2003 while Mero remained at home to care for their daughter.
The initial signs of trouble emerged through changing communication patterns. While Sable initially maintained regular contact by calling home nightly to speak with Mariah, these calls gradually became less frequent, creating growing concern for Mero about the state of their relationship.
The Voicemail That Changed Everything
Mero explained that the emotional turning point came when their daughter expressed disappointment about not being able to speak with her mother. "Mariah wouldn't get to talk to her mom, so she'd be a little upset, saying things like, 'I didn't get to talk to Mom today,'" Mero recalled during the interview.
One particularly frustrating day, Mero attempted to reach Sable without success and left an angry voicemail that he later regretted. Since the couple had access to each other's phones, Mero decided to delete the message from Sable's device. However, when he accessed her phone, he encountered something completely unexpected.
"I got to listen to this first message, which was a male's voice talking about their night before and apologizing to her," Mero revealed. "It was just really heartbreaking, like she's with somebody else."
Confrontation and Immediate Aftermath
The voicemail provided definitive proof of Sable's affair, though the identity of the other man remained unknown to Mero at that time. When he confronted Sable with the evidence, the situation escalated rapidly.
"I played it, and she just said, 'I want a divorce.' That was it," Mero stated, emphasizing how quickly the marriage ended following his discovery.
According to Mero, Sable never revealed the identity of her affair partner during their marriage. It was only after their divorce was finalized in 2004 that Mero learned the other man was Brock Lesnar, who went on to marry Sable in 2006. The couple subsequently had two sons together and maintained a relatively private life away from the public spotlight.
Moving Forward with Forgiveness and New Beginnings
Reflecting on the painful experience nearly two decades later, Mero expressed that he has completely moved on from the emotional turmoil and harbors no lingering resentment.
"When they mention her name, I don't get angry anymore," Mero shared. "And I wish them the best. They've got great kids, and my life couldn't be better."
Since the divorce, Mero has rebuilt his personal life through multiple relationships. He remarried in 2009, later separated, and entered into another marriage in December of last year during a private ceremony. His journey from heartbreak to healing serves as a testament to personal resilience following profound relationship betrayal.
