Prajesh Kashyap's Year-Long Secrecy Struggle for Mardaani 3 Role

Since its theatrical release, Mardaani 3 has garnered widespread acclaim from both audiences and critics, with Rani Mukerji's powerful performance once again driving the successful franchise. In a recent revelation, actor Prajesh Kashyap, who portrays the character Ramanujan in the film, spoke candidly about the extraordinary challenge of maintaining complete secrecy about the project from his family and friends for an entire year.

The Stressful Silence That Tested His Resolve

Prajesh Kashyap admitted that the prolonged secrecy made even ordinary social interactions incredibly stressful. In an exclusive interview with Moneycontrol, he explained how constant inquiries about his work forced him to become adept at evasion. "It was difficult. Because, you know, when you meet actors, when you meet friends and when you meet family, they usually ask, what else is going on? What are you doing?" he recalled.

To navigate these conversations without revealing his involvement in the highly anticipated film, Kashyap developed a strategy of vague responses that hinted at future projects without providing specifics. "So, then I used to be like, something is going on. And I will be like, something will come next year," he revealed about his carefully crafted replies.

While his family had some understanding of the entertainment industry's unpredictable nature, the extended period of silence still created an emotional burden. "Family was a bit prepared. Because I answer them like this," he added, acknowledging their patience despite the challenging circumstances.

Deliberate Isolation for Artistic Focus

What compounded the difficulty was Kashyap's conscious decision to step away from other screen appearances while preparing for his role in Mardaani 3. He deliberately chose complete focus and wanted to maintain a fresh presence when the film eventually released to audiences.

Despite the loneliness that accompanied this professional isolation, the actor found profound meaning in the process. "I am very happy that I am ready to disappear from the world for another year. I enjoy doing this a lot. Because all your energies are focused on that. And what comes out of it is something else. So, I enjoyed it. But at the same time, it was very difficult," he confessed, highlighting the complex emotional landscape of his preparation.

Starstruck Moments with Rani Mukerji

Working alongside veteran actress Rani Mukerji left an indelible impression on Kashyap, who admitted to experiencing starstruck moments nearly every day on set. Observing her perform became an educational experience in itself, offering valuable insights into professional dedication and craft.

Reflecting on their collaboration, he shared enthusiastically: "It was an absolute delight. An opportunity of a lifetime. Being starstruck every day. Pinching yourself coming back home. Being on set and telling yourself, calm down, calm down."

Kashyap also spoke about managing his own nerves before scenes and developing deep appreciation for Mukerji's commitment to her art. "To see her do what she does with sheer brilliance — an opportunity of a lifetime. To talk to her, to spend time with her — I was thrilled. Thoroughly thrilled and I really enjoyed every moment of spending time with her and sharing screen space. It was lovely," he described, characterizing the entire experience as both thrilling and memorable.
