Marvel Unveils Expanded 'Avengers: Endgame' Re-release with New 'Doomsday' Content
In a surprising development, Marvel Studios has revealed additional details about the upcoming theatrical re-release of 'Avengers: Endgame,' originally announced in December ahead of 'Avengers: Doomsday.' The re-release, scheduled for September 25, will now include brand-new footage from the highly anticipated sequel, 'Avengers: Doomsday,' according to announcements made at CinemaCon.
New Footage and Infinity Vision Certification Announced at CinemaCon
During the Walt Disney Studios presentation at CinemaCon on Thursday, directors Joe and Anthony Russo confirmed that the September 25 re-release of the already 3-hour-long 'Avengers: Endgame' will feature exclusive scenes from 'Avengers: Doomsday.' This move aims to build excitement for the sequel's theatrical debut on December 18.
In addition to the new footage, both films will be presented in "Infinity Vision," a new certification for premium large format theaters. This technology is designed to deliver "the biggest, brightest and most immersive cinematic experiences" for audiences, enhancing visual and audio quality.
Andrew Cripps, head of theatrical distribution for The Walt Disney Studios, emphasized the studio's commitment to quality, stating, "Disney's standards for production quality are second to none, with every single detail of a film finely tuned for an immersive experience. Infinity Vision certification extends that commitment to the theaters themselves, representing a shared effort between The Walt Disney Studios and the exhibition community to help audiences quickly find the very best screens in their area to experience our films in exactly the way they're designed to be seen – on a huge screen with the sharpest, clearest color and sound."
Full-Length Trailer Released and Plot Details Revealed
At CinemaCon, a full-length trailer for 'Avengers: Doomsday' was also unveiled, showcasing an epic storyline where all heroes and several former villains must unite to confront the formidable Doctor Doom. The trailer was presented twice to a packed auditorium, with actors Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans taking the stage to generate buzz.
Anticipation for the December 18 release remains high, as it coincides with the exclusive IMAX run of 'Dune: Part 3,' starring Timothée Chalamet, setting the stage for a competitive box office season.
Strategic Moves in the Entertainment Landscape
This re-release strategy highlights Marvel's efforts to:
- Re-engage fans with enhanced content ahead of the sequel.

As the entertainment industry evolves, such initiatives demonstrate how studios are innovating to attract audiences back to theaters with exclusive offerings and cutting-edge presentations.
