Matthew Lillard Joins 'Man of Tomorrow' Cast

Hollywood actor Matthew Lillard is continuing his busy run in film and television by adding another big ticket film to his slate. The actor, who has been making waves for his return to screens with his latest turn in 'Daredevil: Born Again', has officially joined the cast of 'Man of Tomorrow', the upcoming sequel to 'Superman' from DC Studios.

In a photo that has gone viral on social media, Matthew can be seen smiling away as he posed with director James Gunn. According to Deadline, Lillard has been cast in a mystery role in the film that will see David Corenswet returning as Superman, also known as Clark Kent. The film features an ensemble cast that includes Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Lars Eidinger as Brainiac, and Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen.

The film also stars Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific. Adria Arjona and Aaron Pierre are also part of the project. Currently in production, 'Man of Tomorrow' is scheduled to hit theaters on July 9, 2027.

Lillard's casting comes amid a packed year for the actor. He recently reprised his iconic role as Stu Macher in 'Scream 7' and also appeared in Season 2 of 'Cross'. Most recently, he featured in the second season of 'Daredevil: Born Again', which had its season finale this week.

Meanwhile, 'Superman' proved to be a major success for the DC cinematic universe following its release on July 11. The film made its debut at the domestic box office with a USD 125 million haul. It eventually became the first DC title since 'The Batman' to cross the USD 300 million mark domestically. It finished its theatrical run earning approximately USD 618.7 million worldwide.
