Mithila Palkar Opens Up About Real Slaps in 'Happy Patel'
Mithila Palkar has made a surprising revelation about her latest film. The actress confirmed that the slaps shown in 'Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos' were completely real. She admitted she lost count of how many times she actually struck co-star Vir Das during filming.
No Fake Action Allowed
Vir Das, who co-directed the film with Kavi Shastri and also plays a key role, insisted on genuine physical action. There were no camera tricks or sound effects to create the illusion. Mithila shared his clear directive during an interview with NDTV.
"He kept saying 'You have to slap. Otherwise the effect won't be the same if you're just acting,'" Mithila recalled. This approach made the shooting process particularly difficult for her.
The Emotional Toll of Repeated Slaps
Mithila openly confessed that repeatedly slapping someone did not come naturally to her. "It's not my instinct to slap anyone," she stated. The physical action created an emotional challenge throughout the production.
In the trailer alone, she estimates slapping Vir Das at least five times. "But honestly, we've lost count," she added. "Even while shooting the song, we stopped counting."
Four Slaps for One Shot
The situation became even more intense during specific scenes. Mithila revealed that for one particular shot, she had to slap Vir Das four consecutive times. She explained this simply: "For one shot I had to slap him four times because I just couldn't get it right."
Both actors persevered through the discomfort. Mithila continued trying while Vir Das endured the repeated impacts. Their commitment resulted in powerfully authentic moments on screen.
Box Office Performance and Special Cameo
The film holds additional significance for Mithila Palkar. 'Happy Patel' features Aamir Khan in a special appearance. Meeting the veteran actor for the first time left her momentarily speechless. Sharing screen space with such an established performer marked a major career milestone.
At the box office, the film showed modest improvement on its second day. Early estimates from Sacnilk website indicate earnings of approximately Rs 1.50 crore India net on Day 2. This brings the two-day total collection to around Rs 2.75 crore.
While these numbers remain modest, the film maintains steady performance. The ensemble cast includes Vir Das, Mithila Palkar, Mona Singh, Imran Khan, and other notable performers.
Behind the Scenes Commitment
The revelation highlights the extraordinary measures actors sometimes take for cinematic authenticity. Mithila Palkar's candid admission provides rare insight into the physical demands of filmmaking. Her experience demonstrates how performers push beyond their comfort zones to deliver compelling performances.
Vir Das's insistence on real action, though challenging for his co-star, reflects a commitment to genuine storytelling. This directorial approach, while demanding, contributes to the film's raw emotional impact.
