Mouni Roy Reveals Disturbing Harassment Incident at Karnal Event

Popular television and film actress Mouni Roy, best known for her memorable roles in hit shows like Naagin and Devon Ke Dev Mahadev, has recently shared a deeply troubling experience from a public event. The actress took to her Instagram stories to post a detailed account of harassment she faced while performing at an event in Karnal, Haryana.

Inappropriate Physical Contact During Photographs

In her emotional Instagram post, Mouni Roy described how the disturbing incident unfolded as she prepared to take the stage. "Had an event in Karnal last night, and I'm disgusted with the behaviour of the guests, especially two uncles who are well-aged enough to be grandparents," the actress wrote. She revealed that as the event commenced and she walked toward the stage area, several male family members of the organizers placed their hands on her waist under the pretext of taking photographs.

The actress expressed her discomfort with this inappropriate physical contact, stating clearly that she didn't like it. When she politely requested, "Sir, please remove your hand," her words were completely ignored by the individuals involved. This initial boundary violation set the tone for what would become an increasingly distressing experience.

Escalation to Lewd Remarks and Gestures During Performance

The situation deteriorated further once Mouni Roy began her performance on stage. She described how two older men positioned themselves directly in front of the stage and began making lewd remarks while displaying inappropriate hand gestures. The actress noted that they engaged in name-calling and other forms of verbal harassment throughout her act.

"On stage is an even better story," Mouni wrote with evident sarcasm. "Two uncles stood right in front, making lewd remarks, showing lewd hand gestures, and name-calling." Initially, she attempted to handle the situation diplomatically by politely gesturing for them to stop their unacceptable behavior. Instead of heeding her request, the men responded by throwing roses at her during her performance.

Traumatic Experience and Call for Accountability

The harassment became so overwhelming that Mouni Roy briefly walked toward the stage exit mid-performance, though she returned to complete her professional commitment. What particularly disturbed the actress was the complete lack of intervention from event organizers or family members present, despite the obvious nature of the harassment occurring in full public view.

In a subsequent Instagram story, Mouni Roy concluded her account with a powerful statement about the broader implications of such incidents. "We are artists trying to earn an honest living through our craft," she emphasized. "I wonder what these men would do if their friends behaved the same way with their daughters, sisters, or any family members. Shame on you!"

Broader Concerns About Safety for Women Performers

The actress expressed deep concern about what less established performers might endure in similar situations. "If someone like me has to go through this, I can only imagine what new girls starting to work and do shows must face," she wrote poignantly. Mouni described feeling "humiliated, traumatized" by the entire experience and explicitly called for authorities to take action against what she termed "intolerable behaviour."

This incident highlights ongoing concerns about the safety and respectful treatment of women performers at public events across India. Mouni Roy's decision to publicly share her experience has sparked important conversations about accountability, event security protocols, and the need for stronger measures to protect artists from harassment while they perform their professional duties.
