Mumbai Juhu Construction Controversy Takes New Turn as Asit Kumarr Modi Issues Clarification
A recent dispute concerning alleged late-night construction activities in Mumbai's upscale Juhu neighborhood has intensified, with prominent television producer Asit Kumarr Modi stepping forward to firmly distance himself from the property at the center of the controversy. The issue initially gained public attention when actress Urvashi Dholakia voiced her grievances on social media, describing the situation as a "midnight horror" that severely disrupted local residents.
Urvashi Dholakia's Open Letter Highlights Distress and Authority Inaction
In a detailed open letter shared across her social media platforms, Urvashi Dholakia expressed deep concern over ongoing construction work in her Juhu vicinity. She reported persistent loud noise, drilling, and other activities continuing well beyond the legally permissible hours, which she claimed were adversely affecting the sleep patterns and overall well-being of numerous residents. The actress specifically pointed out that families, elderly individuals, and working professionals were bearing the brunt of this disturbance, leading to significant discomfort and health-related anxieties.
Dholakia further revealed her frustration with the lack of response from civic authorities, despite multiple attempts to seek intervention. She disclosed that she had called the police emergency number several times between 4:23 AM and 4:55 AM, but received no assistance or acknowledgment. "I waited under my building... and no one turned up," she stated, questioning the efficiency and responsiveness of the system in urgent situations that impact public peace and safety.
Official Statement and Contractor Clarification Dispute Allegations
In response to the escalating controversy, a formal statement has been issued by Mr. Jignesh, the property owner, along with the appointed contractor, M/S Mehta & Co. The statement categorically clarified that the property in question does not belong to Asit Kumarr Modi and is being constructed with all requisite approvals in place. It read, "The property in question does not belong to Asit Kumarr Modi and is being constructed by Mr. Jignesh and appointed contractor, M/S Mehta & Co., with all requisite approvals in place. We strongly object to the unnecessary mention of Asit Kumarr Modi’s name in a matter entirely unrelated to him. The allegations made by Urvashi Dholakia are baseless and misleading."
Reacting to the ongoing dispute, Asit Kumarr Modi also issued his own clarification, emphasizing his complete lack of connection to the property. He said, "I have absolutely no connection with the said property and this matter does not concern me in any way." He further added, "I am surprised my name has been dragged into this unnecessarily—Urvashi Dholakia could have reached out to me directly for any clarification." This statement aims to clear any misconceptions and redirect the focus towards the actual parties involved in the construction activities.
Background and Previous Allegations by Urvashi Dholakia
Previously, Urvashi Dholakia had alleged that the property where the construction was taking place belonged to Asit Kumarr Modi and his family, which sparked the initial controversy. She tagged various civic authorities in her social media posts, urging immediate intervention to enforce construction timing rules and ensure residents' right to peace. In her writings, she emphasized, "For several days now, construction work has continued well beyond permissible hours... The constant noise... has made it extremely difficult for residents to rest."
The actress's efforts to highlight the issue have brought significant public attention to the broader concerns of noise pollution and regulatory compliance in urban areas like Mumbai. As the situation develops, residents and authorities alike are closely monitoring the outcomes, with calls for stricter enforcement of construction norms to prevent similar disturbances in the future.
