Rajpal Yadav's Emotional Tribute to Veteran Actor Asrani
The passing of veteran actor Asrani on October 20, 2025, at the age of 84 in Mumbai has left the Bollywood industry in profound mourning. For actor Rajpal Yadav, however, the loss carries an intensely personal weight, marked by a regret he now carries with him.
A Missed Farewell and Personal Turmoil
In an emotional revelation to News18, Rajpal Yadav disclosed that he was unable to attend Asrani's last rites, a decision forced by a critical family situation. "I had just shot with him and even shared a meal. But during that time, there was a personal situation — my father was in the ICU. By the time the shoot ended, I got the news. I couldn't make it for his last rites," he explained. Asrani's death followed a battle with health issues, including respiratory complications, adding to the somber atmosphere in the film community.
Reuniting for 'Bhooth Bangla': A Final Collaboration
Rajpal and Asrani were recently working together on the upcoming film Bhooth Bangla, directed by Priyadarshan. The project, which also stars Akshay Kumar, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Paresh Rawal, is scheduled for a theatrical release on April 10. Recalling their time on set, Rajpal painted a vivid picture of warmth and camaraderie. "Whenever Asrani sir was around, the entire unit would gather. Even during breaks, he would entertain everyone. We would end up laughing uncontrollably. He would steal the show every time," he reminisced, highlighting the veteran's enduring charm and professionalism.
Asrani's Legacy: The Teacher of Entertainment
Paying tribute to Asrani's immense contribution to Indian cinema, Rajpal Yadav described him as a master of entertainment. "People say entertainment is a science — he was like a teacher of that. The way he performed, understood humour, and connected with people was extraordinary," he noted. Emphasizing the timeless nature of Asrani's work, Rajpal concluded, "Legends like him don't fade away. They live on through their work. Asrani sir will always remain alive in our hearts. He is a great legend. As long as Indian cinema exists, he will remain immortal. Absolutely true. May his blessings always remain with us. One day, everyone has to go, but to keep working till the very end... may God give his soul peace."
This heartfelt account from Rajpal Yadav not only underscores the personal bonds within Bollywood but also celebrates Asrani's lasting impact on the industry, ensuring his memory endures through both his iconic performances and the fond recollections of his colleagues.
