Rajpal Yadav Granted Temporary Release from Tihar Jail in Cheque Bounce Case
Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav walked out of Tihar Jail on Tuesday after receiving temporary release in his ongoing cheque bounce case. The actor, known for his comedic roles, has been embroiled in legal proceedings related to a financial dispute dating back to 2010.
Rajpal Yadav's Statement to the Media
While speaking with PTI, Rajpal Yadav addressed his release cautiously. "Whatever its legal aspects are, all legal matters are before the High Court. I respect every decision of the High Court very deeply, so I would not like to talk about it," he stated. The actor emphasized his commitment to legal processes while maintaining discretion about specific details.
He further explained his immediate priorities, saying, "I don't want to talk for 2-3 days anyway because there is a wedding at home right now and I am busy with my niece's wedding for two days." This personal commitment has temporarily delayed his public engagement regarding the case.
Upcoming Press Conference Announcement
Rajpal Yadav confirmed that he and his team will soon meet with the media to provide comprehensive answers. "Within the next few days, we will hold a press conference and answer all questions honestly," he declared. The actor emphasized transparency, adding, "We will try to answer all the questions clearly in the form of a get-together or a press conference."
Expressing gratitude to his supporters, Rajpal Yadav acknowledged his connection to Indian cinema. "I belong to Indian cinema. I am definitely a representative of Hindi cinema and I have had the privilege of love from all over the language movies," he said, highlighting his enduring relationship with audiences across linguistic boundaries.
Background of the Cheque Bounce Case
The legal case stems from a Rs 5 crore loan that Rajpal Yadav obtained in 2010 for his film 'Ata Pata Laapata'. With accumulated interest over the years, the total amount escalated to approximately Rs 9 crore. The actor was initially convicted in this matter, and the sentence was subsequently upheld by higher courts.
After failing to comply with court orders, Rajpal Yadav was directed to surrender. On February 15, Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma of the Delhi High Court suspended his six-month sentence until March 18, conditional upon his payment of Rs 1.5 crore. As part of the release terms, he has surrendered his passport and must appear at the next scheduled hearing.
Professional Endeavors and Recent Work
On the professional front, Rajpal Yadav continues to be active in Bollywood. His most recent notable project includes participation in the highly anticipated film 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3'. Despite the legal challenges, the actor remains connected to the entertainment industry, with fans eagerly awaiting his future performances.
The temporary release provides Rajpal Yadav with an opportunity to address both personal commitments and legal obligations while preparing for his upcoming press conference. The entertainment community and legal observers alike will be watching closely as this case continues to unfold in the coming weeks.
