Actor Ram Charan recently shared insights into his interaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a promotional event for his upcoming film 'Peddi' in Delhi. The actor attended the event alongside Janhvi Kapoor and opened up about a conversation that had previously sparked curiosity among fans and social media users.
Ram Charan's Conversation with PM Modi
According to Ram Charan, the discussion with the Prime Minister revolved around cinema, villages, and the changing identity of India through storytelling. Recalling the meeting, the 'Peddi' actor said, “The last time I met our Honourable Prime Minister Modi ji in Delhi, he asked me what Peddi was about. I told him it’s about an evolved India and empowering our villages. Modi ji then shared a story from West Bengal, where decades ago a footballer from a small village represented India, and today over 85 people from that same village play football.”
'Peddi' Rooted in Rural Backdrop
During the event, Ram Charan also spoke about the growing trend in South Indian cinema where filmmakers are increasingly exploring stories connected to villages, traditions, and regional culture. The actor explained that many recent films are moving away from urban narratives and focusing more on rooted storytelling. Talking about this shift, Ram Charan said, “The films we are making in the South today are deeply rooted in our culture and soil. They are not city-based, but set in villages and towns. Our archery team in India has many tribal players because they naturally possess that talent. It’s beautiful when such talent from villages gets recognised.”
'Peddi' is directed by Buchi Babu Sana and is being promoted as a sports action entertainer with a strong emotional and rural backdrop.

Including premiere bookings across North America, 'Peddi' has crossed nearly USD 533K in advance sales with close to 18,900 tickets sold overall.
