Rana Daggubati Reflects on the Monumental Challenges of Filming Baahubali

Rana Daggubati achieved widespread recognition and fame after his powerful portrayal of the villainous Bhallaladeva in SS Rajamouli's epic Baahubali franchise, starring alongside Prabhas. Recently, the acclaimed actor and producer discussed his experience working on the groundbreaking film, detailing the numerous complications involved in creating such a grand cinematic project.

Every Day Presented a New Challenge During the Six-Year Shoot

In an exclusive conversation with Pinkvilla, Rana Daggubati revealed that the Baahubali films took approximately six years to complete. He emphasized that the difficulties extended far beyond just one challenging scene. "We've shot that for like six years or something. So most of those were like that," Daggubati explained. He described how the entire team was essentially learning how to make the film as they went along, with every aspect being both new and monumental in scale.

The Excitement of Pioneering Work Kept the Team Motivated

The actor, known for his role in 'Kaantha,' stated that Baahubali pushed everyone involved to their limits because there were no previous large-scale war films of similar magnitude to reference. "It was not like we had so many war films that were made," he noted. Daggubati pointed out that action sequences and visual effects were not as advanced at that time, making Rajamouli's visionary leadership essential.

"It was pushing everyone's boundaries. It needed a master like Rajamouli and a team that came together for that vision. Usually, in a film, we can't last for that long in our minds," he quoted. According to Daggubati, the team maintained their strength and enthusiasm because the work itself was incredibly exciting. "When you go onto a set and say you're doing this for the first time ever on screen, and that's a high that nothing else can counter," he added. He further mentioned that utilizing traditional elements like chariots and maces created a special feeling that made all the effort worthwhile.

The Enduring Legacy and Personal Impact of Baahubali

Rana Daggubati also spoke about the personal transformation he experienced following the film's success. He admitted he was uncertain whether people would still recognize him after changing his appearance. He shared a memorable incident at an airport where he removed his mask, prompting a fan to exclaim, "Wow, that's King Bhallaladeva." Daggubati expressed how this moment brought him immense happiness, stating, "This film is aging beautifully." He concluded by reflecting on cinema's timeless nature, asserting that its impact never truly fades.
