The controversy surrounding 'Don 3' continues to escalate, with actor Ranveer Singh reportedly making a conciliatory offer to filmmaker Farhan Akhtar that was swiftly rejected. According to a report by ABP News, Singh approached Akhtar with a proposal to collaborate on a mutually agreed film, and also extended the offer to director Zoya Akhtar, with whom he worked on the 2019 hit 'Gully Boy'. However, the goodwill gesture found no takers, as the offer was turned down immediately by both Farhan Akhtar and his production partner Ritesh Sidhwani.
The Failed Attempt at Reconciliation
The report stated that Ranveer offered to do another film selected mutually by Farhan and himself, and also offered to work with Zoya Akhtar. Despite this, neither Farhan nor Zoya is currently interested in collaborating with the actor. The rejection has deepened the rift between Singh and the Akhtar family, with the dispute now involving a Rs 45 crore lawsuit filed by Excel Entertainment and a non-cooperation notice from the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE).
Understanding the 'Don 3' Dispute
The conflict originated when Ranveer Singh allegedly walked off the project 'Don 3' due to the absence of a finalized script and frustration over stalled timelines. Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment subsequently filed a legal case demanding damages of Rs 45 crore. The FWICE has also issued a non-cooperation notice against the actor, escalating the matter.
Industry Bodies Step In
The dispute has now drawn in major industry bodies. According to an India Today report, FWICE has formally approached the Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association (IMPPA) and the Producers Guild of India. While Ranveer Singh and Excel Entertainment remain at the center of the row, the wider goal is reportedly to establish clear industry guidelines to prevent such disputes in the future. This standoff could potentially reshape how Bollywood handles contractual conflicts going forward.
As the legal battle and industry tensions mount, the 'Don 3' controversy shows no signs of cooling down, with both sides digging in their heels.
