From Reel Wedding Jitters to Real-Life Vows: Rashmika and Vijay's Journey

Long before their actual wedding celebrations commenced, Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda had already navigated the emotional waters of a cinematic matrimony—an experience that left Vijay surprisingly anxious. The celebrated actors, renowned for their chemistry in Telugu hits such as Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade, have now formalized their relationship with marriage.

They solemnized their union through traditional Telugu rituals at ITC Mementos Udaipur in the morning, followed by an evening ceremony adhering to Kodava customs. However, a lesser-known anecdote from their past reveals that this was not their first encounter with wedding rites.

The On-Screen Wedding That Felt Too Real

Seven years prior, during the filming of Geetha Govindam, the duo participated in wedding rituals for a scene in the popular song Vanchindamma. In this sequence, Vijay's character ties the three knots of the mangalsutra around Rashmika's neck to enhance authenticity. Reflecting on this moment in a 2018 interview with NTV, Vijay confessed it genuinely unsettled him.

"Sitting in a pelli mandapam (wedding altar) is manageable, but there's a shot of me tying the three knots. It scared me a lot," he admitted. He elaborated that despite knowing it was merely a shoot, the ambiance made it feel remarkably genuine. "Even though I knew it was just a shoot, the girl (Rashmika) is sitting there in a pattu cheera (silk saree). And I'm there in a pattu pancha (traditional dhoti). It all looks like a proper wedding, with flowers and everything. They asked me to tie all three knots in the shot," he explained.

Recalling his bewilderment, Vijay added, "I was like, what is even happening? I was telling the heroine, this is really weird. This was the third time she had gotten married on screen, and she wasn't worried."

Rashmika's Initial Intimidation and Shared Awkwardness

Interestingly, Rashmika herself experienced apprehension, though for different reasons. In a conversation with The News Minute, she revealed feeling intimidated by Vijay when she first entered the Telugu film industry. "I was scared when I first shot with him, as I'm scared of new people. But then, Vijay is a very chill fellow, and I found it easy to work with him," she confessed.

It was in Geetha Govindam that the pair shared their inaugural on-screen kiss. Rashmika later disclosed that a kiss represents an intensely personal and intimate moment for her, and performing it in front of a full crew left her astonished—a sentiment Vijay reportedly mirrored. Despite these initial discomforts, they discovered solace in each other's company, a bond that flourished in their subsequent project, Dear Comrade.

A Cinematic Prelude to Real-Life Commitment

Their trajectory from feeling "scared" in a fictional wedding setting to authentically exchanging vows illustrates a poignant full circle. This evolution underscores that cinema occasionally does more than mimic reality; it subtly equips individuals for life's significant milestones. The narrative of Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda serves as a testament to how artistic collaborations can pave the way for profound personal connections.
