A speeding Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus, traveling from the Hubballi direction, was involved in the collision.

The impact was severe and immediate. The motorcycle rammed into the oncoming bus at high speed, causing the front portion of the two-wheeler to catch fire instantly. The vehicle was completely charred in the blaze. Bavatis, a resident of Garadolli village in Haliyal taluk, succumbed to his injuries at the scene and was declared dead on the spot.
