Ram Gopal Varma Exposes Bollywood's Resentment Towards Aditya Dhar

Aditya Dhar's groundbreaking film 'Dhurandhar' captivated audiences globally, sparking immense anticipation for its sequel. However, behind the scenes, the director faces significant animosity within Bollywood, as revealed by veteran filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma.

Industry Backlash Against Dhar's Success

In a candid interview with Rediff, RGV delved into the widespread dislike for Aditya Dhar in the film industry. He attributed this to the monumental success of 'Dhurandhar', which has fundamentally altered cinematic storytelling. "He has changed the entire grammar of storytelling on screen," Varma stated, emphasizing that Indian cinema will never be the same. The film's impact has forced many filmmakers out of their comfort zones, leading to costly reshoots and budgetary challenges, particularly in Telugu cinema's big-budget projects.

Why Bollywood Hates Aditya Dhar

RGV explained that Dhar's innovative approach has generated envy and resentment. "So, of course, they hate him. He has forced them to get out of their comfort zones, and that costs a lot of money," he said. This disruption has made the industry wary, with many waiting for Dhar and his wife, actress Yami Gautam, to fail. Varma warned, "Aditya Dhar and Yami Gautam will have to move forward with extra caution. The film industry is waiting for them to fumble and fall."

The sequel, set for release on March 19, continues the story from the first film. Following Rehman Dakait's death, the new antagonist is Major Iqbal, portrayed by Arjun Rampal. The plot explores Jaskirat Singh Rangi's transformation into Hamza Ali Mazari as he infiltrates the regime to gather intelligence and prevent attacks. With a runtime of 3 hours and 55 minutes, the film promises to build on the original's intense narrative.

As Bollywood watches closely, Aditya Dhar's influence continues to reshape the landscape, sparking both admiration and hostility in equal measure.
