Salem Composer V Vishwanth Wins Prestigious International Film Award

V Vishwanth, a 23-year-old music composer from Salem, has achieved international recognition by winning the Best Background Score award at the Singapore Lion International Film Festival (Season 3). His winning composition was created for the short film Betting Duniya, which powerfully addresses the serious dangers and societal impacts of betting and gambling.

From College Student to Award-Winning Composer

Known professionally as Vishv within music circles, the young composer revealed that actor and producer James Muni entrusted him with creating the background score for the impactful short film. What makes his achievement particularly remarkable is that Vishv completed the entire musical composition in just seven days while simultaneously managing his college classes and examination schedule.

"I attended college during the mornings and dedicated my lunch breaks and evenings to working on the background music," Vishv explained, highlighting the disciplined time management required to balance academic responsibilities with creative work.

A Deeply Motivating Recognition

The young award winner expressed that receiving this international honor has been profoundly motivating for his musical career. "I am immensely grateful to James Muni and the entire film team for believing in my abilities," Vishv stated. He emphasized that this recognition has significantly strengthened his determination to pursue his dream of composing music for cinema and using sound to tell powerful, meaningful stories.

Vishv completed his Class XII education at Jairam Higher Secondary School in Salem before pursuing a B.Tech degree in Computer Science and Business Systems at K.S. Rangasamy College of Technology in Tiruchengode. His family background reflects diverse professional paths:

  • His mother, Girija, serves as a librarian at a private college
  • His younger brother, Vinoth, works in the IT sector
