Salim Khan Hospitalized: Family Expresses Displeasure Over Media Leaks
Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, father of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, continues to receive medical care at Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital. The 89-year-old writer was admitted on February 17 and remains under observation, with his family making regular visits to check on his condition.
Current Health Status and Medical Details
During a press interaction on Wednesday, Dr. Jalil Parkar revealed that Salim Khan experienced a minor brain hemorrhage. "He was having jerks and his blood pressure was high. We treated him immediately," the doctor explained. "We had to put him on a ventilator as a precautionary measure to prevent his condition from worsening, not because he was critical."
The medical team conducted necessary investigations and performed a small procedure, details of which remain confidential. Dr. Parkar confirmed that Salim Khan has been shifted to the Intensive Care Unit and is currently stable. "He is fine and doing quite well," the doctor stated, while noting that "age is a factor, so the recovery process will take time."
Family Visits and Bollywood Support
The Khan family has been maintaining a regular presence at the hospital. This morning, Sohail Khan was photographed arriving at Lilavati Hospital to get an update on his father's health. Paparazzi captured video footage of Sohail walking out of the hospital and settling into his car with security personnel nearby.
Bollywood celebrities have also been paying visits to show their support. On Friday afternoon, Ranveer Singh visited the hospital for an update on Salim Khan's condition. Earlier in the week, several prominent figures from the film industry including Shilpa Shetty, Sanjay Dutt, and Javed Akhtar had already dropped by. Thursday evening saw Aamir Khan visiting as well, accompanied by his girlfriend Gauri.
Family's Displeasure Over Media Disclosures
Meanwhile, sources close to the Khan family have revealed significant displeasure regarding the disclosure of private health information to the media. According to a family source who spoke to Variety India, "Health is a private matter. Ideally, no updates should be shared with the media, and any communication should be left entirely to the family, if and when they choose to address fans and well-wishers."
The source confirmed that Salman Khan and his entire family were particularly unhappy with Dr. Parkar's public statement about Salim Khan's medical condition. "They have clearly conveyed to the hospital authorities that they do not want any further details disclosed without family approval first," the source emphasized.
The family has reportedly issued strict instructions to Lilavati Hospital doctors not to share any private information with the press without obtaining explicit consent from the family beforehand. This development highlights the ongoing tension between celebrity privacy rights and media interest in high-profile health situations.
As Salim Khan continues his recovery journey, the family maintains hope for his gradual improvement while asserting their right to control information about his health condition. The veteran screenwriter, known for his legendary partnership with Javed Akhtar and contributions to Indian cinema through iconic films, receives continued support from both his family and the Bollywood community during this challenging time.
