Salman Khan Addresses Online Criticism Over Battle of Galwan Teaser Look
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has directly responded to the online trolling surrounding his appearance in the recently released teaser for his upcoming war drama Battle of Galwan. The actor took the opportunity to clarify the intended meaning behind his expression and staunchly defended his portrayal of a military officer in the highly anticipated film.
Public Clarification at ISPL Event in Surat
Amidst the swirling online debate, Salman Khan chose to address the criticism head-on during a live appearance at an Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) cricket event held in Surat. While engaging in a conversation with former cricketer and commentator Mohammad Kaif, the actor was asked to recreate the controversial pose from the teaser. He readily complied and proceeded to explain the context and significance behind his look.
In his characteristic style, Salman stated in Hindi, “Ab kisi ko ye samajh mein aata hai ki ye romantic look hai, lekin Colonel hoon bhaiya. Aur ye Colonel ka look hai, jo ki samajhta hai ki apne team waalon ko, apne jawaanon ko kaise hosla dena hai. Iss sabka koi matlab hai nahi, iss look ka koi matlab hai nahi. Toh aise hi chalta aaya hai aur aise hi chalta rahega, aap sabki dua se.”
He elaborated that some people are misinterpreting it as a romantic expression, but he emphasized that he is portraying a Colonel. This look, he explained, embodies the demeanor of a Colonel who understands how to motivate and encourage his team members and soldiers. Salman downplayed the excessive focus on the look itself, asserting that such matters hold little real significance and that he will continue forward with the support and blessings of his fans.
Support from Analysts and Fans
Salman Khan’s response has resonated with several supporters, including political analyst and former Bigg Boss contestant Tehseen Poonawalla. Poonawalla came to the actor's defense on social media platform X, arguing that what critics have labeled as a smile is, in fact, a display of calm aggression and composure. He emphasized that this controlled intensity is precisely the quality a soldier requires when confronting life-and-death situations on the battlefield. Such restraint, Poonawalla noted, can reflect a deeper form of courage and a profound understanding of danger, rather than overt aggression.
The actor's loyal fan base also rallied in his support across social media platforms. One supporter commented, “haha Salman being Salman Bhai! Dignity over noise. A soldier’s strength shows in restraint, not rage. Let the performance do the talking.” Another fan expressed unwavering support, writing, “Clap back at them? Haters gonna hate because they're jealous, but your true fans are always behind you and supporting you — India, Egypt, everywhere.”
Other Points of Discussion
While much of the conversation centered on Salman Khan's performance, some online commentators pointed to other aspects of the teaser. One individual critiqued, “It's not only about Salman. Peeche jo cartoon khade kiye hai they ruin the scene completely. complete casual acting by them. Wrong casting. I think this is on the casting director.” This highlights that the discourse extends beyond the lead actor to include broader production elements.
