Sanjay Dutt Announces 'Khalnayak Returns' Sequel

Sanjay Dutt surprised fans on Friday by announcing his upcoming film 'Khalnayak Returns', a sequel to the iconic 1993 movie 'Khalnayak'. The original film starred Dutt alongside Madhuri Dixit and Jackie Shroff. With the sequel arriving more than three decades later, excitement among fans is palpable.

Sanjay Dutt Credits Subhash Ghai

At the poster launch event in Mumbai, Dutt credited Subhash Ghai for making the original film's journey possible. He said, 'The journey of 'Khalnayak' has been long and without Subhash ji it wouldn't have been possible. He is a legend and a man of entertainment. He will be part of this 'Khalnayak'.'

Sequel Idea Born in Jail

Dutt revealed that the idea for the sequel came to him during his time in jail in connection with the 1993 Mumbai blasts case. 'In jail, I asked everyone around me who would be interested in watching it. And the 4,000 inmates said they all would. I asked all of them to write one page about it, and it took me a while to read all 4,000 pages. When I came out on parole, I asked Subhash sir to go through it. After that, he said it should be made,' Dutt shared.

Sharing the announcement, he wrote, 'Kuch kahaani khatam nahi hoti… woh dobara shuru hoti hai. Khalnayak Returns.' Although the cast and release details are still under wraps, the reveal has already brought back memories of the classic.

Dutt also unveiled two posters featuring his look from the film. One shows him smoking with a fierce expression, and the other captures a menacing smile. The caption read, 'Har kahaani ka ek waqt hota hai…aur uska waqt aa gaya hai. 'Khalnayak Returns'.'

Original 'Khalnayak' Legacy

Directed by Subhash Ghai, the original 'Khalnayak' released in 1993 and quickly became one of the most iconic films of that era. The film starred Sanjay Dutt as Ballu, alongside Madhuri Dixit and Jackie Shroff. It stood out for blurring the lines between hero and villain through a morally layered central character.
