Naktala High School Alumni Demand Answers in Actor Rahul Banerjee's Death Probe
Kolkata: The alumni association of Naktala High School, which was actor Rahul Banerjee's alma mater, organized a memorial service for him and issued a formal charter of demands. They are seeking clear answers from the competent authorities and the production house involved in the shoot where he reportedly drowned in Talsari.
Alumni Association Expresses Frustration Over Lack of Information
Soumen Bhattacharya, the secretary of the association, emphasized that they do not want to be kept in the dark about the ongoing investigation. "We know him as Arunoday, and not Rahul. Two FIRs were registered, 17 days have passed, and there is still no clear account of what happened or where the probe stands," he stated. The alumni have demanded an immediate update from the police regarding the progress of the case.
Key Questions Raised by the Alumni Association
The association has outlined several critical questions that they believe must be addressed by the authorities and the production house:
- Did the production house obtain proper police permission for the shoot?
- Were locals, fishermen, and lifeguards consulted about the sea conditions prior to the filming?
- Why has co-actor Sweta Mishra not yet provided a statement to the investigators?
- What caused the delay in taking Rahul Banerjee to the hospital after the incident?
- Why was there no doctor or medical team present during such a risky shoot?
- Who accompanied him to the hospital, and what information did those individuals provide to the police?
Call for Transparency and a Thorough Investigation
Bhattacharya stressed that the production house and the serial's director must reveal the full details of what transpired. "A proper probe has to be conducted so that his son knows how his father died," he asserted. The alumni association is advocating for a comprehensive and transparent investigation to ensure accountability and provide closure to the family and the community.
The memorial service served as a platform for the alumni to honor Rahul Banerjee's memory while simultaneously pressing for justice and clarity in the circumstances surrounding his tragic death. The association remains steadfast in its pursuit of answers, highlighting the need for stricter safety protocols in film and television productions to prevent similar incidents in the future.
