Fans across India felt a deep sense of loss on May 31, 2022, when the beloved singer KK suffered a fatal heart attack. His songs continue to flood the internet, bringing tears to listeners who miss his distinctive voice. In a heartfelt recent interview, fellow singer Shaan, who shared a special bond with KK, opened up about their relationship and KK's character.
Shaan Reflects on a Profound Musical Partnership
Speaking on Maniesh Paul's podcast, Shaan revealed that KK was his most frequent collaborator throughout his career. Their connection went far beyond the recording studio. They shared the stage in numerous performances, traveled extensively together, and spent countless hours in each other's company.
"We Lost His Voice Too Soon"
Shaan looked back on their years of friendship with emotion. He stated, "KK was in top form, and his voice was at its peak. He was gone too soon, and we lost out on his voice so much. I was very close to him." Shaan emphasized the scale of their musical work together, noting he sang more duets with KK than with other famous singers like Shreya Ghoshal, Sunidhi Chauhan, or Alka Yagnik.
Their collaboration produced over twenty songs, with at least a dozen becoming superhits. But it wasn't just about the music. Shaan explained, "We did a lot of shows together, and we traveled together a lot as well."
KK's Quiet and Grounded Personality
Shaan also spoke about KK's personality, which stood out in the entertainment industry. He described KK as quiet and grounded, very different from the typical crowd. "Every time I would look at him, I would think, 'Mujhe iske jaisa banna hai' (I want to be like him)," Shaan admitted.
While Shaan enjoys social gatherings, KK preferred staying home and keeping his personal life private. Sharing a lighter memory, Shaan recalled, "He has only attended two parties, and both of them were at my house. Even when you used to call him for TV, it was very difficult to get him out. He just wanted to be in his comfort zone."
The Shocking Nature of His Passing
What made KK's death even harder to process, according to Shaan, was his disciplined and healthy lifestyle. Shaan explained, "KK didn't smoke or drink. He never used to have heavy food and had no problems with cholesterol. He used to do swimming and yoga, so he would be the last person you would ever expect to have a heart attack."
This aspect of KK's life added to the shock and grief felt by fans and colleagues alike. His sudden departure left a void in the music industry that many still feel deeply today.
