Shanaya Kapoor Embraces Destiny and Exploration in Her Acting Career
In a recent interview, emerging Bollywood actor Shanaya Kapoor expressed her enthusiasm for exploring all facets of the film industry as a newcomer. She credits destiny for landing her role in the upcoming survival thriller Tu Ya Main, where she portrays a social media influencer named Avani.
Destiny and Opportunity in 'Tu Ya Main'
Shanaya, the daughter of actors Sanjay Kapoor and Mahi Gill, revealed that casting director Mukesh Chhabra played a pivotal role in her selection for the film. "When I read the scenes, I found them super fun," she said. "It's destiny that allowed me to be there at the right time, right moment, and Mukesh sir for thinking of me in the first place that I got the chance to audition." The film, directed by Bejoy Nambiar, features Shanaya alongside Adarsh Gourav, with a plot centered on influencers whose romantic getaway turns deadly when they are trapped in a swimming pool with a crocodile. It is set for theatrical release on February 13.
Reflections on Debut and Future Aspirations
Shanaya made her acting debut in Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan opposite Vikrant Massey, a film that did not perform well commercially. However, she views the experience positively. "I wouldn't say that it didn't receive love. It didn't reflect in the numbers. But for me, it was a moment, I was happy seeing myself on the big screen," she explained. She described watching herself in theaters as a "big achievement" and a special memory, regardless of the outcome. Instead of dwelling on past results, she remains focused on her next project, Tu Ya Main, emphasizing her goal to attract audiences and achieve box office success.
Preparation and Character Development
To prepare for her role as Avani, Shanaya immersed herself in survival thriller films such as Jaws, Crawl, and The Meg. She also engaged in unconventional acting exercises with coach Atul Mongia, introduced by co-star Adarsh Gourav. "At first when I heard it, I was like, 'I don't know if this is for me and if I can do it'. But I gave it a shot and it really helped," she shared. She drew inspiration from watching videos of black panthers to capture Avani's sensual and confident demeanor, noting that her character has a gaze that is both intimidating and captivating.
Open-Minded Approach to Career
As a newcomer, Shanaya emphasized her willingness to explore diverse opportunities. "I'm just starting out, so I'm just like an open book, I want to explore everything. I need to figure out which direction I want to go in," she stated. Her motivation is driven by a desire to see her films succeed and theaters packed with audiences. Tu Ya Main is produced by Aanand L Rai, Himanshu Sharma, and Vinod Bhanushali, marking another step in her evolving career journey.
