Veteran actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha recently paid a heartfelt visit to the family of his late friend and colleague, Dharmendra. After meeting Dharmendra's sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol last week, Sinha visited the veteran actor's second wife, Hema Malini, and their daughters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol, in Mumbai on Monday, December 1, 2025.
A Heartbreaking Visit in Traumatic Times
Shatrughan Sinha, who was in New Delhi when Dharmendra passed away last Monday, described the meeting as emotionally overwhelming. He took to social media platform X to express his feelings, stating it was heartbreaking to meet Hema Malini in these traumatic times following her tremendous loss.
He shared that he met her two beautiful daughters, offering them comforting words for their immense grief. Sinha emphasized that while Dharmendra is no longer physically present, his memories will live on forever. He extended prayers and condolences for the family's peace during this difficult period.
Throwback Photos and Cross-Party Bonds
Alongside his emotional message, Sinha posted nostalgic throwback pictures. The photos featured him and his wife, Poonam Sinha, with Hema Malini, Dharmendra, and the late actor-politician Sunil Dutt. This collection of images highlighted a unique bond that transcended political affiliations.
While Dharmendra and Hema Malini are members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shatrughan Sinha belongs to the Trinamool Congress (TMC). Interestingly, the late Sunil Dutt was a prominent leader of the Congress party. The pictures served as a poignant reminder of personal friendships that exist beyond political lines.
Earlier Meeting with the Deol Family
Prior to this visit, on Friday, Sinha had met with other members of Dharmendra's family. He visited the late actor's home and spent time with his sons, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, daughter-in-law Tanya Deol, and his grandsons, Dharam and Aryaman.
Sinha described that visit as one with a very heavy sorrowful heart. He remembered Dharmendra as a remarkable person whose legacy will continue to touch many lives. The actor-politician prayed for the family's strength and peace as they navigate this period of profound sorrow.
Hema Malini's Private Grief Revealed
In a related revelation, UAE-based filmmaker Hamad Al Reymani shared details of a conversation with Hema Malini from the third day of mourning. According to Reymani's Instagram post, Hema expressed deep sadness that Dharmendra's fans could not see him one last time.
She explained that Dharmendra never wanted anyone to see him weak or ill, often hiding his pain even from his closest relatives. Hema Malini, in a motherly tone, revealed that his condition in the final days was cruel and painful, something even the family could hardly bear to witness.
She concluded by stating that what happened was perhaps a mercy, as seeing him in that state would have been unbearably difficult for his admirers. Her words, as recounted by Reymani, were described as painful yet true arrows of reality.
The film industry continues to mourn the loss of the legendary actor, Dharmendra, with colleagues and friends like Shatrughan Sinha stepping forward to support the grieving family and honor a cherished friendship that lasted decades.
