Following her notable Bollywood debut in the comedy franchise Housefull 5, actress Sonam Bajwa is now gearing up for her next major Hindi film project, Border 2. This highly anticipated film marks a significant reunion for Bajwa, as she teams up once again with the versatile actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh. The duo has previously shared the screen in several successful Punjabi films, creating a strong on-screen chemistry that audiences have come to love.
A Nostalgic Collaboration Rekindled
In an exclusive conversation, Sonam Bajwa opened up about working with Diljit Dosanjh on a large-scale Hindi film for the very first time. She described the experience as deeply nostalgic, reflecting on their long-standing professional relationship. "I have always enjoyed working with Diljit," Bajwa shared. "We have collaborated on diverse projects, from the emotionally intense Punjab 1984 to romantic comedies and lighter films like Sardaar Ji, Super Singh, and Honsla Rakh. This reunion felt particularly special because Anurag Singh, who is directing Border 2, also directed Punjab 1984. That film was my first collaboration with both of them and only my second film overall. Reuniting brought back vivid memories from the early days of my career. Looking back, I feel immense happiness about the journey we have all shared since then. Diljit remains one of my favourite artistes to work with, and I am truly grateful for this opportunity to collaborate again."
The Advantage of Familiarity on Set
Sonam Bajwa emphasized that working with a co-actor with whom she already shares a strong comfort level has made the filming process for Border 2 noticeably smoother. She explained how this familiarity translates into better on-screen performances. "When you have previously worked with an actor, it brings a natural sense of ease to the set," she noted. "Border 2 is a big-budget film with significant expectations, and there is a certain pressure, especially when you are working alongside legendary figures. However, being paired with someone you are comfortable with makes the entire process much easier. That understanding and rapport also reflect positively on screen. You comprehend each other's acting styles and nuances, which becomes a distinct advantage. Whether performing intimate scenes or lighter moments, everything flowed smoothly because that foundational ease was already established."
Navigating On-Set Challenges with Professionalism
During the production of Border 2, reports emerged suggesting that Diljit Dosanjh might be replaced in the film amid controversy surrounding Sardaar Ji 3, which also features Pakistani actor Hania Aamir. Addressing these speculations, Sonam Bajwa highlighted the professionalism maintained by the entire team. "Despite the rumors and discussions circulating at the time, everyone on set remained fully professional and focused on completing the shoot," she stated. "There was a consistently positive outlook among the cast and crew, and the situation was handled with calmness and responsibility. Our priority was always to deliver our best performances and ensure the film's success, without letting external noise affect our work."
As Border 2 progresses towards its release, fans eagerly await to see Sonam Bajwa and Diljit Dosanjh recreate their magic in this ambitious Hindi film. Their reunion not only promises compelling performances but also showcases the enduring power of collaborative synergy in the entertainment industry.
